What Is the New Kaguya-sama TV Anime Special?
Aka Akasaka’s hit romance manga Kaguya-sama: Love is War has become one of the top romcoms of the past decade. Following the conclusion of the third season (Kaguya-sama: Love is War -Ultra Romantic-) and the movie (The First Kiss That Never Ends) in 2022, a new TV Special was recently announced.
What Will the New TV Special Be About?
The upcoming special is titled Kaguya-sama: Love is War – The Stairs to Adulthood. Although it has no release date yet, it may aim to cover the manga’s final arcs.
The key visual hints at scenes from those final chapters. This detail suggests that the anime could be approaching its conclusion.
However, the nature of this special remains unclear. It could serve as a teaser for a potential fourth season, where A-1 Pictures might faithfully adapt the remaining story. On the other hand, it might just be an hour-long special that rushes through the ending.
Currently, we don’t have enough information. As a fan, I’m hoping this special acts as a teaser, not a conclusion. A proper fourth season would give the anime the ending it deserves.
If the special wraps up the series instead, I hope the studio cuts the filler and nails the pacing. Rushing it would be a disappointing way to end such a strong series.
About Kaguya-sama: Love is War & Aka Akasaka
Aka Akasaka launched Kaguya-sama: Love is War in 2015 in Miracle Jump. In 2016, it moved to Weekly Young Jump. The manga ended in 2022.
The anime’s first season aired in 2019, followed by season two in 2020. The third season aired in 2022. The movie The First Kiss That Never Ends premiered in theaters in December 2022.
Akasaka’s two popular works, Kaguya-sama and OSHI NO KO, have both concluded. Since March 2025, he has been publishing a new fantasy romance manga, Märchen Crown, in Weekly Young Jump.
