After the success of Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, a new Haikyu movie has been announced: Haikyu!! Vs. The Little Giant. The event called ‘Next Step’, held in Japan on March 2, 2025, announced the news.. The official X account also confirmed the next movie.
This will be the second movie in the franchise following the success of the aforementioned The Dumpster Battle.
Besides the new Haikyu movie, a spin-off short anime was revealed. The title of this short anime is Haikyu!! Where Monsters Go. This short will focus on a side character match between Fukurodani Academy and Mujinazaka High School.
Haruichi Furudate’s beloved series has had a great couple of years. The Haikyu!! manga made the top 10 best-selling manga of 2024, which is, without a doubt, a remarkable achievement.

Karasuno HIgh School takes on their next opponent: Kamomedai. This will be a special match for Shoyo Hinata. Kamomedai’s best player, Korai Hoshiumi, is also short like Hinata.

Production I.G. will be returning to produce the film. Susumu Mitsunaka will be returning as a writer and director alongside Production I.G. Mitsunaka has worked on all previous Haikyu!! projects.

When is Haikyu!! Vs The Little Giant coming out?
There has been no announcement of a release date as of now. However fans have been speculating on a release date.
Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle was announced in August 2022 and released in February 2024. If the new Haikyuu!! film follows the same timeline, fans could see it release in the fall of 2026 in that case.
And maybe just like The Dumpster Battle, Haikyuu!! Vs The Little Giant could be set for a theatrical release. Then a release on Crunchyroll will follow.
