The Kaiju No. 8 manga ending is coming extremely soon. Like in two chapters soon (according to this X post). The Kaiju No. 8 latest chapter is Chapter 127. This is a bi-weekly manga, so the final chapter will be released late June to Early July, bar any delays.
It’s been five years since the release of the first chapter on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+. Since then the franchise has gotten a:
- Kaiju No. 8 Season 1
- Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 (in July 2025)
- Kaiju No. 8 Game (Sometime in 2025)
Is the Manga Ending Too Soon?
I am caught up with the most recent chapter, Chapter 127. I personally wouldn’t say that the manga is ending too soon, the writing was on the wall (or the last few chapters) that the manga is coming to an end.
The current fight has been going on for 20 or so chapters, if I remember correctly, and it’s been moving at a snail’s pace. These last 20 chapters are probably 20 or so minutes, in story present tense. And to be honest there isn’t that much to explore after this fight.
The only thing to explore is Kafka Hibino’s relationship with Mina Ashiro and the rest of his squadmates. If Naoya Matsumoto did choose to continue the story and explore these arcs, the story would turn into a more slice-of-life and action manga.
Naoya Matsumoto, the creator of the story, probably thought it would be best to end the story and move on to something else.
Fan Reactions
It’s a mixed bag of reactions from what I’ve seen online, more negative than neutral and positive.
On Reddit, it’s a 50/50, some fans liked that it didn’t drag on. Others had the same sentiment as me, in that there were still things to explore.

Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 is coming real soon as well. In July 2025, a lot of banger anime will be airing, including season 2.
A Great Story Coming to an End
As the final Kaiju No. 8 manga arc wraps up, we might start seeing a flood of new information. Naoya Matsumoto will have to give the viewers a lot of information in the next two chapters to really tie the story up (if he wants to write a ‘good’ ending).
