All You Need to Know About Visiting the New Nintendo Museum

how to get tickets for nintendo museum

Nintendo opened its much-anticipated Nintendo Museum in Uji City, Kyoto, on Wednesday, October 2nd. Excitement for the museum has surged. Especially after they announced the first lottery results for October and November tickets on September 1st.

The most sought-after date, October 13th (Sunday), saw an incredible 47x ticket lottery rate! To give you an idea, the ticket lottery rate for the Ghibli Theme Park during New Year’s is 30 times. This means the Nintendo Museum is even more popular.

For those trying to get tickets in the upcoming lotteries, we’ve gathered the time-specific lottery rates to help you understand your chances. If you’re planning to apply for future tickets, this data should help you plan effectively.

Lottery Results Announcement

The announcement of the lottery results happens on the 1st of each month. Based on data from posts on X (formerly Twitter), it appears that winners start receiving their emails around 2 PM. Emails appear to go out later in the evening. Some receiving their notifications around 6 PM or even 8 PM.

Given the sheer volume of emails sent out on the 1st, it’s possible that you may experience delays in receiving your email. For that reason, I recommend checking your status directly on the ticket page if you haven’t received anything by the afternoon. Below, I’ll explain how to check your results on the Nintendo Museum ticket page for quicker access.

How to Check Lottery Results for the Nintendo Museum

There are two ways to check your lottery results:

  1. Wait for the email notification – Emails are sent starting at around 2 PM for those who were successful in the lottery, while rejection emails are usually sent out later. Personally, I’ve received rejection emails as late as 6 PM and 8 PM on both occasions.
  2. Check the ticket page directly – This is the fastest way to see your lottery status. I checked at 2 PM, but the official results are typically announced after 12 PM, so be sure to check as early as possible. Here’s how:
  • Visit the official Nintendo Museum ticket page
  • Click on “View current lotteries” to see if you won.

First Round of Lottery Results for October and November Nintendo Museum Tickets

On September 1st, they released the first lottery results for October and November tickets. As expected, ticket demand for the grand opening period was incredibly high, especially during weekends and public holidays. Based on the data from October 2nd to October 14th, the highest lottery rate was 47x for October 13th (Sunday). Here are some insights based on the results:

  1. The 10:00 AM time slot is the most popular – This slot saw the highest demand, making it the toughest to secure.
  2. Weekday afternoons have lower lottery rates – Although lower, they still range between 5x to 8x.
  3. Weekends and long holidays – These remain highly competitive, especially as we approach the year-end holidays, making tickets harder to come by.

Even though cancellations may occur, many people are eagerly waiting for available tickets. So don’t be surprised by the high competition in future lotteries.

For the period from October 2nd to October 14th, we noticed a similar pattern across several days, with October 13th standing out as the most competitive date. The graph we’ve created shows the time slots (on the horizontal axis) and the lottery rates (on the vertical axis). The 10:00 AM slot is by far the most popular, but afternoon slots from 2:00 PM onward could be your best chance.

Ticket Application Process and Purchase Flow

To apply for tickets, head to the official ticketing website. You will need a Nintendo Account for the application (registration is free). An important note: each user account can only make one reservation at a time.

You can check the availability of time slots based on color-coded indicators. You can stay as long as you want during operating hours. However, there may be restrictions during busy times.

You cannot purchase tickets through third-party vendors such as Ticket Pia. You can only secure them via Nintendo’s official ticket page. They hold the lottery two months in advance, with results announced on the 1st of each following month. If there are any remaining tickets after the lottery, you can purchase them directly from the ticket site.

For example, for the January 2025 tickets:

  • Lottery application period: October 1st to October 31st, 2024
  • Lottery results announcement: November 1st, 2024
  • Direct purchases for remaining tickets will open two months before your desired visit date.

Securing your spot early and hoping for the best in the lottery is important.
