Oshi no Ko and Kaguya-sama’s author Aka Akasaka has a brand new manga releasing on March 20, 2025 in Weekly Young Jump. The new manga is set in a fantasy-romance world and its title is Maerchen Crown.
When Kaguya-sama concluded, he promised he wouldn’t be drawing anymore and would be focusing on writing instead. For Oshi no Ko he had Mengo Yokoyari illustrate it.
He continues with his promise in this new manga as Ajichika will be illustrating for him. Ajichika is a group of artists who are behind the art for Record of Ragnarok.
As of now we don’t have an official synopsis, however fans are already quick to dismiss the new manga due to Akasaka’s previous works. However once an official synopsis comes out I will be updating the article. I will also most likely do a first reaction to the initial chapter when it drops.
Aka Akasaka Manga

Aka Akasaka is infamous for terrible endings. His conclusions to Kaguya-sama and Oshi no Ko were disliked by most fans online, including myself. This is why fans were so quick to dismiss his new work.
Here are some reactions from reddit posts:

“I’m glad he’s moving on to something else, but honestly ill be going in with very reduced expectations. The journey in a story is always important, but endings are pretty important as well and Akasaka has issues with them.” – gc11117
“Lmao I love how Aka was a beloved writer during Kaguya’s run until a bit before war arc. Now after his botched ending for Kaguya and general poor execution of OnK especially its ending, not even mentioning his poorly received 4th manga that got axed no one is excited to see this man write anymore” – Cheetah357

“Ive found i don’t like the way this guy does endings. Each one has been disappointing or trash at best. I hope this one ends up better” – the6thpath
“Ngl Kaguya’s ending and some of the later arcs simply did not hit the same quality as most parts of the series Oshi no ko’s first arc was by far the best and the longer the manga went i feel like tha quality went down with it
Aka seems to have issues with mid and late story beats so i’m not that excited ngl” – _Good_One
Should You Read Aka Akasaka’s New Manga Maerchen Crown?
I don’t know yet to be honest. There’s no synopsis, despite the fact that it debuts in almost two weeks. Which is a little odd for a new manga, but maybe it’s a marketing tactic? I would wait for around 5-10 chapters and make my decision from there.
