Shinichi Fukuda’s hit My Dress Up Darling (Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru) manga is set to end in the next chapter. Shinichi Fukuda will release it on March 21, 2025. Square Enix’s Young Gangan has serialized the manga since January 2018.
I would like to say the story was at its peak. However Shinichi Fukuda announced it’s ending last February 21, 2025. When the announcement came out, there was a bit of shock from the community. I think nobody was expecting it to end so soon.
There aren’t any reports of why Shinichi Fukuda decided to end the manga so soon. For now we can only speculate his decision.

Where Are We in the Story of My Dress Up Darling?
Like I mentioned, the story is in its peak, Marin and Gojou just confessed to each other and got together. Readers won’t get to see them do the usual relationship things that we see in anime and manga.
There is a chapter of Gojou and Marin going on a date. But it’s nothing too different from what they were doing before like buying material or going to try food.
This is why readers are puzzled. This is where the story finally ‘starts’, the main characters who like each other get together.
What Could Be the Final My Dress Up Darling Chapter?
I have a strong feeling the ending will be disappointing. There were still a lot of things Shinichi Fukuda could explore. The story introduced many side characters, including the girl who teased Gojou as a child for liking dolls. It also introduced more cosplay friends.
The final chapter dropping was too sudden, just like Oshi no Ko (spoiler warning).
I’ve read some speculation on how My Dress Up Darling will end. Here are some possible endings I’ve read from social media:
- a montage of Gojou and Marin’s relationship ‘milestones’ up until marriage or more.
- the high school graduation ending + they live happily ever after
- a whole chapter of them being older, like a look into their future
What Fans Can be Happy About
My Dress Up Darling season two will be airing this year. It may finish adapting the entire manga if there will be 24 episodes. It’s been two years since season 1 of CloverWorks adaptation in 2022.
CloverWorks has not released any specific dates as of now.
While doing research I also came upon a live action adaptation. I didn’t know there was a live action adaptation, you may be interested to watch.
